WI goes Valley?

As internships are a mandatory part for the studies of business information systems at the University of Applied sciences in Karlsruhe, this initiative supports companies as well as students to get the right placement.

The university has highly skilled students who are eager to make some work experience abroad.
For all IT-related students there is definitely no better place to be than the nerve center of the IT-world: the Silicon Valley.
And there is no place in the world where those skills are needed more than here in the San Francisco Bay Area.

So I want to bring the right people together to make that happen.
I personally started to find an internship placement nearly one Year before it actually was supposed to start. It's not that easy to approach companies and then explain the HR-folks what exactly You want to do.

I hope that after some time we can set clear expectations from both sides (the student and the university) and win from that understanding.

I know that there are some services out there that want payments from students to place them in what they call "excellent internships". I have never heard anything good out of those arrangements. And the whole procedure (visa, flight, settlement,...) is expensive enough. So why add an additional burden?

I want to collect some specific information (from the university, exchange organizations and personal experience) on this page and we'll see where it's gonna go.
